The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in the field of chemical sciences.
  • Documented scientific achievements, particularly in the areas of supramolecular chemistry, coordination and organometallic synthesis, design of functional catalytic systems, and the application of catalysis in the synthesis of compounds with well-defined properties and application potential.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing research projects funded from external sources (e.g., NCN, NCBR, FNP, EU), including preparing grant proposals and supervising research tasks.
  • Practical experience in anhydrous and anaerobic synthesis techniques (including operation of a vacuum/gas line – Schlenk line).
  • Knowledge of analytical methods used for the characterization of chemical compounds and supramolecular systems, including NMR, FT-IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, as well as structural analysis techniques.
  • Experience in teaching or supervising students and doctoral candidates.
  • Proficiency in tools supporting research design, analysis, and publication (e.g., Microsoft Office, MestreNova, ChemDraw, Reaxys, SciFinder, Scopus).

Eligibility criteria

  • Scientific achievements (0–25 points)

    – Publications in JCR-listed journals, their quality (Impact Factor, percentile), originality of research, and relevance to the announced position.
  • Original research project: maximum 5 pages (0–25 points)

    – Scientific quality, originality, and feasibility of the project; publication potential (top-tier journals such as JACS, Angew. Chem., Chem. Sci., etc.); potential for obtaining external funding (e.g., NCN, FNP, Horizon Europe).
  • Experience in conducting and leading research projects (0–20 points)

    – Awarded grants (as principal investigator), experience in preparing and implementing grant proposals.
  • Research internships and international experience (0–15 points)

    – Duration, reputation of the host institution, and the significance of the internship for the candidate’s scientific development.
  • Quality and completeness of the CV and overall scientific competence (0–10 points)

    – Clarity and reliability of the information provided, career path, scientific development, and interdisciplinarity.

Scientific activity and professional development (0–5 points)

– Conference presentations, trainings, workshops, organizational activities, and inter-institutional collaboration.

Selection process

  • Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
  • Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
  • Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
  • Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
  • Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
  • The committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates- work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation.
  • The chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates- strengths and weaknesses. Submitted documents will be sent back to candidates.

  • Application form/letter of the candidate addressed to the Vice-Rector announcing the competition;
  • Diplomas or certificates issued by colleges and universities attesting to education and degrees or titles held (in case of academic degrees obtained abroad - the documents must meet the equivalence criteria set out in Article 328 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742 Polish: Dziennik Ustaw 2024 poz. 1571 t.j.));
  • A list of the candidate’s publications, including the 5-year Impact Factor for each publication, as well as the Impact Factor, percentile from the Scopus database, and the number of ministerial points applicable in the year the article was published;
  • Documented information on completed research internships, specifying their duration and the host institution;
  • Documented information on obtained research grants and submitted funding applications, specifying the type of grant and the nature of the candidate’s involvement (principal investigator or co-investigator);
  • An original research proposal (maximum 5 pages) including:
    • A summary (approx. ½ page) defining the scientific objective and significance of the proposed research,
      • A description of the planned research,
      • Justification of the project’s originality and scientific potential,
      • Expected results and their relevance to the development of the discipline,
      • A publication plan including potential internationally recognized journals,
      • Plans for applying for research funding (e.g., NCN, NCBR, FNP, Horizon Europe).

The project should represent an independent research concept that provides a realistic opportunity for publication of the results in reputable chemistry journals and for obtaining external research funding.
