The Instrumental Department announces a competition for the position of assistant professor, for whom the Chopin University of Music will be the first place of employment in the field of teaching the following subjects:

  • Percussion – solo and ensemble orchestral studies.

Skills/Qualifications

The competition is open to persons who:

  • meet the requirements specified in Articles 113, 114, and 115 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571);
  • hold a masters degree in musical arts in the artistic discipline of instrumental performance and a doctorate in musical arts;
  • are employed full-time in a symphony orchestra or have significant experience working in a symphony orchestra;
  • have experience in teaching;
  • demonstrate achievements and accomplishments in artistic activity.

Specific Requirements

Required documents:

  • application for participation in the competition addressed to the Rector of the UMFC;
  • certified copy of masters degree in music in the artistic discipline of instrumental performance;
  • certified copy of doctoral degree in music;
  • documentation of professional/teaching experience – artistic achievements;
  • personal questionnaire (in accordance with the UMFC template);
  • statement of consent to the processing of personal data contained in the documents submitted in connection with participation in the competition (form in accordance with the UMFC template, available for download from the website);
  • statement of no criminal record for intentional crimes or intentional fiscal offenses.

Scope of duties:

  • improving ones qualifications;
  • educating and teaching students and other participants in studies conducted by the University and the Faculty;
  • participating in the organizational work of the University and the Faculty;
  • participating in the artistic activities of the University and the Faculty;
  • supervising the content and methodology of final, semester, and diploma theses prepared by students;
  • belonging to one of the departments operating at the UMFC and participating in its work;
  • participating in the meetings of your department;
  • participating in semester and annual examination committees for all forms of study at the Faculty, including internship exams;
  • participating in entrance examination committees as appointed by the Dean;
  • participating in auditions for artistic projects undertaken at the Faculty – as instructed by the Dean;
  • participating in other faculty examinations – as instructed by the Dean;
  • complying with the weekly working hours of an academic teacher;
  • knowledge of the Statutes, Work Regulations, and Study Regulations of the UMFC to the extent necessary for proper functioning within the University structures.

Internal Application form(s) needed

  • Perform a program of approximately 20 minutes before the jury, selected from the following repertoire items (approximately 30 minutes):
  • Any solo piece for symphonic timpani;
  • two movements of any cello suite by J. S. Bach, varying in tempo, transcribed for solo marimba
  • conducting a teaching session with a student indicated by the UMFC (approx. 20 min.)
  • attending an interview (approx. 20 min.)
