DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE, POMERANIAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN SZCZECIN, announces a competition for the post of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – RESEARCH AND TEACHING EMPLOYEE, full-time employment, at the Department and Chair of Physiology, for a specified period of 4 years.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Have the qualifications specified in the Act and the Statute of Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin.
  • Have not been punished with a disciplinary penalty referred to the Article 276 paragraph 1 point 7, 8.
  • Meet the requirements referred to the Article 20 paragraph 1 point 1-3.

Specific Requirements

  • Have at least a doctoral degree.
  • Have scientific achievements:
    • For the last 4 calendar years: at least 20.0 Impact Factor (IF) points, with at least 10 IF points required as the first or last author.
    • Include 4 papers published as the first or last author, which together were assessed at least 400 MEiN points, 3) received the opinion of the dean and head of unit; in the case of employment as an assistant professor a positive opinion of the head of the unit is required.
  • Have 3 years experience as a university/academic tutor.
  • Have knowledge of English or another modern language which is not their mother tongue (verified on the basis of a declaration).
  • In the 4 years preceding the date of employment or promotion, the candidate:
    • a) was/is the project manager of a research or innovation project financed from funds allocated for this purpose in the state budget or from sources other than the University budget, awarded through a competitive process.
    • b) submitted at least two substantively correct applications for a research grant financed from funds allocated for this purpose in the state budget or from sources other than the University budget, awarded through a competitive process.
    • c) was/is the task manager in a research consortium (confirmed by an agreement or provision in the consortium agreement).
    • d) filed a patent application or an application for protection of a utility model, confirmed by the relevant office.
  • In the 4 years preceding the date of employment or promotion, the candidate:
    • a) has established documented cooperation with the socio-economic environment.
    • b) has established scientific cooperation in the area of developing the internationalization of the University (fulfillment of the criterion confirmed by a signed cooperation agreement).
    • c) has been/is the task manager of an international grant (confirmed by an agreement or annotation in the consortium agreement).
    • d) has been involved in the organization (member of the organizing or scientific committee) of conferences or meetings organized or co-organized by the University.
  • If a person holding a postdoctoral degree (doctor habilitated) applies for the position of assistant professor, the seniority criterion referred to in point 4 does not apply.
  • A person who does not meet the criterion specified in point 6 may also apply for the position of assistant professor, provided that they meet the criterion of increased scientific achievements: the scientific achievements over the last 4 calendar years will be assessed at least 40 IF points, with at least 20 IF points obtained as the first or last author required.

Required documents

  1. Request for the competition – an application.
  2. CV with particular emphasis on scientific and professional development.
  3. Personal questionnaire of the applying candidate.
  4. Statements.
  5. Copies of documents certifying education (diploma of higher education, certificate/diploma granting a doctoral degree, certificate/diploma granting post-doctorate degree).
  6. Permit to practice the profession – for physicians, dentists, nurses and midwives.
  7. Copies of records of previous employment.
  8. Permission to process personal data.
  9. Declaration of knowledge of English or another modern language which is not the candidate’s native language.
  10. Opinion of the dean of the faculty and head of unit in which the candidate is applying for employment about the qualifications and skills of the candidate to maintain research and teaching.
  11. Certificate of scientific achievements from the Main Library of PMU.
  12. Documents confirming compliance with one of the criteria in point 6 of the qualification requirements.
  13. Documents confirming compliance with one of the criteria in point 7 of the qualification requirements.
  14. Certificate of no criminal record from the National Criminal Register for offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code, and the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction, or for prohibited acts specified in foreign law corresponding to these offenses.
  15. Annex No. 1 to Order No. 97/2024 of the Rector of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin of 12 September 2024 on the principles of personal identification verification in connection with counteracting the threat of sexual crimes and protecting minors. If the candidate has resided in countries other than the Republic of Poland and the candidates country of citizenship within the last 20 years, an appropriate certificate of no criminal record from the countries of residence specified in the declaration must be submitted.

In case of applying for full-time employment in statement, referred to point. 5 from the part “required documents”, the candidate should declare that Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin will be the candidate’s principal place of employment.

Failure to meet the qualification requirements and failure to submit the required documents, including statements, will result in rejection of the application.

Selection process

Candidate should provide the Human Resources Department of PMU in Szczecin, situated at 1 Rybacka street room 203, with the required documents till February 16th 2026 year till 15:00 p.m.

After the deadline submissions will not be considered.

End of the competition shall take place no later than February 28th 2026 year.

Additional comments

Information in accordance with Article 183ca of the Labor Code:

  • PLN 9,030 – for individuals with a doctoral degree.
  • PLN 10,290 – for individuals with a postdoctoral degree.
  • Seniority allowance – 1% of the base salary for each year of employment. The allowance is paid monthly, starting from the fourth year of employment, but the amount of this allowance cannot exceed 20% of the base salary.
  • Additional annual remuneration – is payable under the terms specified in the regulations on additional annual remuneration for employees of public sector entities.
  • The University is governed by the PUM Employee Remuneration Regulations, introduced by Order No. 67/2020 of the Rector of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin of June 9, 2020, as amended.
