Job Description And Responsibilities

A position has become available for a full-time Systems Analyst in the Applications Support team within Visa’s Technology division based in Warsaw, Poland.

This team is responsible for provision of 2nd/3rd level technical application support for a range of Unix-based systems. These systems are mainly Web and API applications developed in a variety of open source technologies including Unix, Java, Hadoop, Postgres, NoSQL etc.

This position will provide 2nd and 3rd level incident/problem diagnosis and resolution. Typically, the issues escalated to the team are complex and span across technologies, networks, cybersecurity, and hardware. The jobholder therefore requires a broad and high degree of technical knowledge across multiple platforms and technologies.

What we expect of you, day to day:

  1. Proficient with Unix commands/scripting.
  2. Expertise in at least one of the web/API technologies.
  3. Fluency in container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  4. Responsible for supporting and ensuring the stability of the applications.
  5. Change, Incident and Problem management according to Visa guidelines.
  6. Participate in change planning, deployment and review.
  7. Perform proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities, and perform root cause analysis and remediation.
  8. Write and maintain scripts to monitor system functionality and performance.
  9. Write scripts to automate multiple manual tasks.
  10. Monitor incident queues, troubleshoot issues and lead conference calls with other groups to mitigate impacts.
  11. Apply code and operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities.
  12. Evaluate issues reported by Visa clients to provide ongoing solutions.
  13. Participate in on-call rotation as assigned by the manager.
  14. Facilitate and attend meetings for Business and Information Technology initiatives.
  15. Write and maintain programs and scripts to achieve Information Technology objectives.
  16. Provide extended support if needed and work with offshore teams to facilitate around-the-clock support for applications and services.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  1. 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  2. Solid working experience in an application support function working in a 24/7 environment, driving high availability on active/active environments.
  3. Some experience as a developer is a plus.
  4. Proficient in code review and code level debugging.
  5. Experience in supporting Java applications that run in Apache Tomcat, JWS, or similar containers.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong automation/monitoring mindset.
  7. Experience using change, incident and problem management systems such as Remedy, Service Now or equivalent.
  8. Experience planning, deploying and reviewing changes for critical applications. Experience with Jenkins is a plus.
  9. Experience troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
  10. Experience conducting root cause analysis.
  11. Experience on container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker platform.
  12. Experience with UNIX/Linux operating system and fluency in BASH scripting.
  13. Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server or equivalent.
  14. Excellent ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  15. Unix operating system commands (to a high level).
  16. Unix shell scripting (KSH or BASH, awk/sed, perl).
  17. Working experience in managing applications on containers.
  18. Strong SQL query writing skills.
  19. 2nd/3rd level application support experience.
  20. Experience with one of the NoSQL technologies.
  21. Working experience on Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka or Hbase.
  22. Working experience working on Splunk tool to create reports and dashboards.
  23. Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, PKI, SSL, TLS, Digital Certificates, Security Scanning or equivalent.
