We are seeking a skilled API Engineer to be a key player in our API transformation. You will be at the heart of our new central API Gateway platform, responsible for building the critical integrations and tooling that will empower our development crews across the organization. With APIs being developed in different crews, your primary focus will be on the technical onboarding of these services onto the gateway. You will lead the hands-on integration of OAuth and a new, yet-to-be-chosen identity provider, creating a secure, standardized, and scalable entry point for all our API traffic. This role is perfect for an engineer who excels at building platform-level solutions and enabling other developers to succeed.
responsibilities :
Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
Ensure the security, performance, and reliability of all APIs by implementing proper authorization, policies, and best practices.
Integrate a variety of internal and external systems to create seamless and efficient workflows.
Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate API testing and deployment.
Implement comprehensive observability for our APIs, including distributed tracing, metrics, and logging.
Operate in a "You Build It, You Run It" (YBIYRI) environment, taking full ownership of your services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional API products and provide clear guidance and support for onboarding their services.
requirements-expected :
Hands-on experience with integrating an API Gateway product into an existing API landscape
Deep, practical experience integrating systems with Identity Providers (e.g. Keycloak) using standards like OAuth 2.0 and OIDC.
Hands-on experience with OpenAPI specification and respective tooling
Hands-on experience implementing REST APIs, preferably with Java and Spring Boot.
Strong experience with microservice-based architectures
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Expertise and hands-on experience in industry-standard authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0, JWT).
Deep understanding of the full API life-cycle management.
Experience with setting up API observability (traces, metrics, logs).
Solid understanding of security, logging, auditing, policy, and throttling for APIs.
Proven experience in building and developing CI/CD pipelines and respective build and deployment tools such as Gradle and Helm
Profound experience with unit and integration testing
Hands-on experience with automation of of API testing.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), GitHub, and build tools like Gradle.
Optional (but highly important):
Good knowledge of SOAP-based web services and WSDLs.
