A person employed as an adjunct (post-doc) for a fixed period up to 33 Months at the Department of Applied Spectroscopy – NZ53 at IFJ PAN will be obliged to participate in work on research topics and projects implemented and planned for the nearest period at the NZ53 Department.

The basic tasks of the employed person will include:

  1. Participation in research utilizing X-ray radiation in a laboratory setup, at synchrotron sources, and free-electron lasers.
  2. Operation of scientific equipment located in NZ53, including conducting modernization work.
  3. Dissemination of the research results in the form of publications in leading scientific journals indexed in the JCR and speeches during seminars and conferences, including international ones. This person will also be obliged to apply for external funding for research.

Research Field: Physics

Education Level: PhD or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Doctor degree in physical sciences or related disciplines: chemistry, physical chemistry or material science.
  • Scientific achievements documented by publications in prestigious international scientific journals.
  • Knowledge of the field and ongoing research activity in the use of X-ray techniques.
  • Experience in working with scientific research equipment and in the analysis of experimental data.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Welcome:

  • Experience and ongoing research activity in the field of X-ray spectroscopy or microtomography.
  • Proficiency in a selected programming tool for processing large datasets (e.g., Python, Mathematica, Matlab, Origin).

The Head of the Department submits employment recommendation to the Competition Committee.

The Director reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage without giving any reason.

Additional comments:

A person employed at the position of Assistant Professor with a PhD degree will receive a monthly basic salary of PLN 7,000 gross , and with a postdoctoral degree of PLN 7,800 gross . The total amount of remuneration is influenced by additional components , such as: length of service and allowance for working under conditions of exposure to ionizing radiation (if applicable).

Type of contract: contract of employment, full-time at IFJ PAN as the only place of work.
