About the Role

As a CBRE BSO Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analysing the monthly and annual financial statements for a range of operating and corporate entities across Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. You will own the Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet for the entities/properties allocated to you and have direct ownership of local compliance efforts, including timely completion of audits as well as VAT, tax and regulatory financial statement filings.

You will be a key member of the Finance team in a rapidly expanding business with broad exposure across the business. You will work with various business segments to ensure all financial statements are timely, accurate, and fit for purpose as we scale into an international brand.

The role will be part of the Business Services Organization with matrixed reporting to the London-based Director of Accounting, Europe of Industrious, and will be a key part of a small European Finance team working closely with the US team.

What You’ll Do

  • Overall ownership of the month-end close process for UK / Europe entities
  • Prepare journal entries to be reviewed by the supervisor (accruals, reclasses, ACH payments, bank fees, professional services, etc.)
  • Prepare local financial reports for statutory reporting and lead on audit engagements with supporting documentation
  • Complete periodic VAT and other tax filing requirements and liaise with relevant authorities as appropriate
  • Review invoices and expense reports in the accounts payable system, Coupa
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliations for European entities
  • Provide leadership to the accounting operations and financial reporting function by improving processes and controls
  • Execute daily and monthly accounting functions in line with local standards and US GAAP
  • Review P&L and perform variance analyses to understand operating results
  • Coordinate and provide finance guidance to local operations teams
  • Support the supervisor and accounting leadership as needed
  • Participate in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analyses

What You’ll Need

  • Professional Accounting qualification preferred
  • English fluency required; other European languages, especially German, a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of direct accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite
  • Experience with real estate and intercompany accounting a plus
  • Experience with Coupa a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with management, suppliers, colleagues and auditors
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail, accuracy and organization
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
