Responsibilities

As part of the #QLOCdragons team you will focus on the following areas:

1. Project LOD System

  • Create and manage LOD setups for assets approaching triangle limits or that cannot be further simplified.
  • Prepare proxy meshes that match the original shape and destruction setup of each asset.
  • Build correct UV layouts within 0–1 space without overlaps.
  • Assign and manage projection materials such as M_LastLOD or M_ProjectLOD.
  • Bake texture projections, verify results and fix errors.
  • Support the environment team to balance visual quality and performance across all LODs.
  • Document and maintain guidelines for projection setups, shader assignments and asset validation.

2. Enlighten and Lighting Setup

  • Configure and test Enlighten lighting types: Dynamic, Proxy, Light Probe, and Static.
  • Choose the correct lighting type based on asset size, complexity and destruction setup.
  • Work on semi‑dynamic GI setups to reduce light leaks and achieve realistic indirect lighting.
  • Build test scenes to debug light behavior and compare different setups.
  • Adjust UVs, materials and colors to improve bake quality and prevent shading issues.
  • Collaborate with environment teams to maintain visual quality and performance balance.
  • Identify and fix problems such as light leaks, wrong UVs or flat shading.

3. Validation and Integration

  • Validate assets from Maya to the engine, checking naming, hierarchy, materials and textures.
  • Maintain the LOD and baking pipeline, ensuring all steps are consistent.
  • Communicate with artists and tech teams to provide feedback and technical support.
  • Define validation rules for triangle limits, LOD counts and texture resolutions.
  • Help improve pipeline tools and workflows whenever possible.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of 3D modeling, UV mapping and real‑time shading.
  • Experience with Maya and Unreal Engine or custom engines.
  • Good knowledge of lighting, LOD systems and optimization methods.
  • Ability to debug and solve visual or performance issues.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to translate technical requirements into actionable art direction.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work: 1 day per week in the office.
  • Dragons Academy – knowledge and skills exchange events.
  • Shared financing of private healthcare after the trial period.
  • Dragothon internal sports challenge with prizes.
  • Chill‑out spaces and a massage chair in the Warsaw office.
