Project outline and responsibilities:
Project for a German company in the telecommunications and IT services industry, specialising in solutions such as web hosting, cloud computing and web services. With a commitment to innovation, the client is implementing cutting-edge technologies based on 5G, and is currently opening a European Technology Centre in Poland.
The team operates 10% of Germany's Linux/Open Source landline network. Radius system has 4 million customers/60 million requests per day, VoIP system 4 million customers/12 million numbers, 240 million requests per day.
Regulated German Critical Infrastructure (“KRITIS”)
- Operate German critical infrastructure
- Background check for each employee based on German law §165 Telekommunikationsgesetz
- Full-stack operations with responsibility for operating system, configuration management, applications, databases, interfaces for processes / procurement systems / customer service
- Operation of support systems for monitoring, statistics, alarming, logging, protocol analysis or security (DNS threat analysis)
- Performing on-call duties 24/7
Prerequisites:
- Proven experience in Linux system administration, preferably with Debian
- Troubleshooting tasks using Bash, Perl or Python scripts
- Monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana
- Knowledge of git/ gitOps
- Kubernetes basics
- Design and operation of distributed systems
- Good knowledge of configuration management/automation using puppet and/or ansible
- In-depth knowledge of networking
- Database basics (MariaDB, Redis)
- In-depth understanding of Linux, networking, high availability, distributed systems, TCP/IP, UDP, SIP, Radius, DNS, NTP communication protocols, open source technologies and services
- Stack:
o Debian Linux, Puppet, MariaDB, Kamailio, Radius, syslog-ng, Keepalived/IPVS, Redis, Grafana, Icinga, GIT, Asterisk
Additional information:
- Upon receipt of a possible offer of cooperation, you will need a criminal record certificate from the KRK
- Knowledge of issues related to German law (Background check for each employee based on German law §165 Telekommunikationsgesetz)
- The project is related to the KRITIS regulation - “Critical infrastructure operators must report security incidents exceeding a certain threshold to BSI in accordance with the provisions of the ”KRITIS regulation.”
- KRITIS stands for “critical infrastructure” - so it includes entities in the energy, IT and telecommunications, water and food sectors, but for several years also in the health, transportation and traffic, and finance and insurance sectors.
- In addition, companies providing publicly available telecommunications services are required to report such incidents to the Federal Network Agency.
- Frequent breaches of personal data must be reported; this is regulated by the Personal Data Protection Regulation.”
