Syberry is the technology partner for a U.S.-based capital management company, and we are establishing an engineering center in Europe for them. The team is building the technology platform to run the company. This is a greenfield development project utilizing Python, Kotlin, React, and AWS as the primary tech stack.
We are seeking a Senior Python Engineer to develop a tool set for portfolio managers that will enable the analysis of financial data and facilitating informed decision-making based on this analysis.
Why join us?
- Learn from top Wall Street experts: you will work in one team with quants and portfolio managers who have 15+ years of experience in the field.
- Greenfield development: participate in designing and building an entire tech platform for running the company from scratch. Our oldest code is just 1.5 years old.
- Cutting-edge practices: we embrace XP principles like TDD, CI/CD, pair programming, and trunk-based development to ship value daily.
- Real challenges: everything you work on gets tested by real users immediately. No boring tasks with unknown value.
- Zero bureaucracy: were a startup, so enjoy minimal bureaucracy.
- Small, skilled teams: we’re a crew of 30 experienced engineers, working in small teams of up to 5, so don’t expect communication overload.
- True remote: No Return To Office. Work from wherever you want.
What a Python Engineer will do:
- Create high-quality code according to Syberry’s standards.
- Engineer a solution to the problem of an end user: delivering API services / working with datasets and data pipelines / delivering integrations with external systems (depending on the team).
- Closely collaborate and communicate with the client and the team.
About you:
- Strong engineering experience (we mean it): we believe at least 5 years of software engineering is a good predictor (however, you can challenge this belief).
- Experience working with AWS or any other cloud: can use key services for computation, networking, and storage
- Decent mathematics knowledge that you apply to solve complex technical challenges.
- Expertise in SQL and RDBMS to write efficient queries and interact with relational databases effectively.
- Fluent English: for daily communication with native speakers from the U.S.
- Design and implement APIs following best practices to ensure scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain Docker containers, including writing custom Docker files for various applications.
- Availability until 7 PM CET at least 3 days a week: our product team and end users operate in the Eastern Time Zone, so we need an overlap for effective collaboration. Still, we expect 8h of work daily so you could start later or have breaks.
Will be a plus:
- Finance knowledge: no need for deep conceptual understanding, but general knowledge about investment management is a big advantage, specifically equities, back-testing, and financial simulations.
- Statistics knowledge is a great advantage.
- Experience working with end users/clients directly, figuring out their needs, and delivering end-to-end solutions for them.
- You have experience in engineering data pipelines.
- You have worked with Flask / Fast API or any other web framework.
- You have worked with Kotlin or another backend programming language.
