Overview

Senior Mechanical System Design Leader at BorgWarner. Lead a project team of mechanical development engineers and mechanical system architects in the development of eDrive systems, including eMotors, gearboxes, and their mechanical integration. Responsible for planning, scheduling, risk management, and delivering high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical solutions for automotive applications.

Responsibilities

  • Functionally lead a project team of mechanical development engineers and mechanical system architects in the development of eDrive systems, encompassing eMotors, gearboxes, and their mechanical integration.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans and schedules to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Implement BorgWarner PDP (Product Development Process) and Engineering Development Framework (EDF).
  • Decompose and distribute requirements to mechanical development engineers and mechanical system architects.
  • Schedule reviews of simulations and analyses to validate designs, ensuring they are completed on time.
  • Deliver drawings, specifications, and other engineering work products per program timing.
  • Report to the System Project Leader and act as the primary technical contact within the mechanical design team.
  • Communicate with operations, testing, eHardware, and other stakeholders; align with Validation Engineering to finalize the DVP&R.
  • Prepare and present project status updates, technical reviews, and reports to senior management.
  • Drive innovation in mechanical design to enhance performance and efficiency of eDrive systems; identify and resolve technical issues; continuously seek process improvements.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation per BorgWarner PDP and EDF; ensure all designs comply with industry standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in mechanical design and development within automotive or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading technical projects; strong project management and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and familiarity with automotive design workflows and standards.
  • Experience with eDrive components (motors, gearboxes) and their mechanical integration is preferred.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in developing eMotors, gearboxes, and mechanical integration.
