Senior Mechanical Engineer, Precision Mechanics and Payload — Location: Warsaw (On-site) • Type: Permanent
What you will do
- Be one of the founding members of the small team responsible for spacecraft systems lifecycle from design through in-orbit validation, including production, commissioning, testing, qualification, verification, and iterative improvements.
- Serve as a senior technical expert for the design and optimization of the satellite payload/bus interfaces; oversee manufacturing, testing, and qualification campaigns, and actively participate in CAD and other engineering activities.
- Collaborate with component and subsystem manufacturers to ensure quality, alignment, and performance of delivered components and mechanisms.
What you will need to be successful
- Expert knowledge and hands-on skills in mechanical CAD design, analysis, and optimization across all project phases from concept to material and structural analysis.
- Familiarity with material science for space environments (outgassing, thermal cycling, thermoelastic effects) and guidance on material selection and analysis.
- Experience with testing, especially TVAC and vibration testing and pre-launch qualification campaigns.
- Problem ownership mindset with a willingness to take risks and iterate to improve parts; R&D style of learning by doing.
- Experience delivering designs through suppliers with direct collaboration with manufacturers and subcontractors to achieve production-ready, verified, and validated designs.
- Experience with high-precision and accuracy mechanics and design methodologies for optomechanical/optomechatronic systems enabling precise alignment and positioning; proven production-ready designs.
- Familiarity with thermal and mechanical interface design ensuring adjustable and high-precision coupling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in QA and AIT of precise mechanisms.
- Experience with high-precision actuated systems (robotics, optical) is a plus.
- Experience with vacuum and cryogenic applications and materials used in the aerospace industry.
- Previous experience in the satellite and/or defense industry.
