About the Team

Security Products & Platform team is responsible for some of the most critical systems at Box—ensuring only trusted users with trusted devices can access our Intelligent Content Management platform. As businesses demand increasingly sophisticated controls over user access, this team’s work is central to Box’s security and compliance posture. In this role, you’ll drive key initiatives in the secure authentication & access space, partnering closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams. We’re looking for a technically strong Senior engineering manager who thrives on platform-level thinking, has experience working with large-scale systems, and is motivated by the challenges of building highly available, secure services for enterprise customers.

You’ll lead a team of talented engineers and engineering managers shaping user security, authentication and access control at Box. We’re seeking someone who brings discipline, depth, and a thoughtful approach to software engineering in a mission‑critical environment.

Who You Are

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience with an understanding of best practices
  • 6+ years experience as a Software Engineering Manager, with experience managing managers, leading teams owning high-scale production services
  • Bachelors/Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • Fluent in Java, Scala, or other modern software development language
  • Proven expertise in authentication & authorization systems, building and operating micro services at enterprise scale
  • Hands‑on experience with security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Experience driving effective execution with agile processes in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strategic leadership experience defining technical vision, roadmaps, and organizational direction
  • Strong communicator, able to build a compelling vision for their team
  • Proven track record developing and mentoring engineers and engineering managers
  • Experience managing team’s on‑call rotation to ensure timely and effective incident response, actively participate in escalated on‑call incidents to provide leadership and support, and drive improvements by addressing recurring issues to minimize disruptions
  • Must speak English proficiently

  • Partner with Product Management, Business Development and Engineering leaders to build a compelling vision, scope new features, provide project estimates and milestones to inform on quarterly and annual commitments
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team is delivering true business impact
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence on the team through a focus on execution, quality, and scale
  • Guide the professional growth of engineers and managers, providing relevant and timely career guidance and feedback
  • Grow the team through hiring great engineers
  • Model and uphold our values through building a collaborative, inclusive team with a focus on customer impact and building for leverage
  • Attend and engage & lead agile ceremonies and improve team’s operational excellence
  • Respond to technical and behavioral feedback from manager and peers
  • Play a role in developing and fostering Box culture in the newly created office
  • Represent Box Poland internally and externally
