Role purpose:
Provide dedicated cost management services to ensure projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the required standards. Offer professional advice to clients and support team members, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. Drive value for clients by identifying cost-saving opportunities and enhancing project efficiency. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage initial budget estimates and cost plans.
- Regularly update cost plans throughout the design and development stages.
- Advise clients on procurement strategies for optimal contractor, supplier, and consultant selection.
- Prepare detailed bills of quantities, pricing documents, and tender packages.
- Manage the entire tender procedure, including preparation, issuance, evaluation, and recommendation for contractor selection.
- Evaluate tender submissions and provide recommendations for contractor selection.
- Conduct value engineering exercises.
- Assess, negotiate, and agree on variations and change orders, ensuring cost control.
- Prepare monthly valuations, assess, and agree on change orders (variations).
- Collaborate with clients, managing their expectations and requirements.
- Attend client, design team, and site meetings.
- Perform cost analysis and benchmarking exercises.
- Lead final account reconciliation, ensuring all costs are accounted for and agreed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong technical education in building construction or related disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in cost management across all contract phases (pre-contract, post-contract, and final account) in roles such as Cost Manager or Senior Cost Manager.
- Fluency in Polish and English (proficiency in English essential, both verbal and written).
- Solid technical knowledge with hands-on experience.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and requirements (market and client needs).
- Demonstrable understanding of market trends and local knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong team player with collaborative skills.
- Proven experience in business and report writing.
- Knowledge of construction legislation and law.
- High numerical reasoning and analytical skills.
- Understanding of macro and microeconomics.
- Proficiency in IT tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet).
- Experience with cost management software such as CostX, Cato, Norma Pro, etc.
