Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for detailed product design under consideration of technical risk and customer technical requirements.
- Communicates the detailed design (e.g., component list, drawings, validation results) to the project team.
- Organizes and leads the design review and is responsible for the final output.
- Responsible for the product verification and validation process as required to satisfy customer demands and reduce risk for Norma, including: responsibility for the content and output of the D-FMEA.
- Responsible for the content and output of the DVP for testing and calculation, ensuring that the necessary technical calculations are completed, and initiating and monitoring the required tests.
- Can initiate the prototype process for internal research and/or for customer and internal testing.
- Responsible for all aspects of Norma quotation and manufacturing drawings, including the creation and tracking of part numbers.
- Together with AE, responsible for the definition of customer-owned interfacing components (e.g., flanges, spigots, gaskets, etc.).
- Actively participate in project teams (e.g., gateway reviews) and can be project manager for level 1 projects.
- Identifies, communicates, and leads plant-based product development with an approximate timeline of 0 – 5 years.
- Identifies and communicates further necessary future advanced engineering needs.
- Initiates and can lead design-to-cost, design-to-manufacture, Global Excellence, and VA/VE activities.
- Responsible for testing and calculation regarding technical competitor analysis (e.g., benchmarking).
- Follows the APQP actively (Norma standard APQP format).
- Develops and maintains the design guidelines, as well as carrying out product training.
Qualifications:
- Experience in designing parts for the automotive industry is mandatory.
- Formal education in mechanical engineering, automotive, material science, or similar.
- Experience and knowledge of extrusion and injection molding materials and production processes (injection molding, extrusion) is advantageous.
- Minimum three years’ experience in designing plastic components (preferably for automotive applications).
- Highly motivated and self-driven character – enthusiasm to bring new innovative products into serial applications.
- Team spirit and creativity.
- Familiar with automotive processes such as APQP and D-FMEA.
