Linux System Administrator
Your responsibilities
- Linux Command Line Mastery: You’ll handle Linux OS like a pro, solving issues with ease.
- Database Guru: Manage basic configuration, backup/recovery, and replication of databases.
- Network Savvy: Handle VPNs, firewalls, and authentication mechanisms while ensuring smooth, secure connectivity.
- Scripting & Automation: Write and modify Bash and Python scripts, automate processes, and create Ansible roles for configuration management.
- Monitoring & Security: Utilize monitoring tools and implement robust security methods like SELinux to ensure our systems are secure and resilient.
- Containerization & Virtualization: Work with modern tools like Docker and understand CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Cloud Ready: Familiar with AWS or other cloud providers? Great! You’ll help us manage cloud environments at a practitioner level.
- Web Servers & Applications: Install, configure, and debug web servers (Apache HTTPD, Nginx), and keep our XTM products and Apache Tomcat in top shape.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Use your expertise to dive into network protocols (DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP) and keep our systems running smoothly with top-tier diagnostics skills.
Our requirements
- Linux command line proficiency
- Ability to solve network and OS problems
- Knowledge of various databases and their basic configuration, backup recovery, replication
- Monitoring and security tools and methods knowledge
- Good network knowledge (VPN, firewall)
- Good knowledge of authentication mechanisms
- Good knowledge of file systems
- Ability to create and modify basic Bash and Python scripts
- Awareness of how the git flow works
- Knowledge of Ansible allowing the development of roles and modules as well as server management.
- Knows containerization and virtualization concept
- Is aware or knows CI/CD concept
- Knows at least one cloud provider (level: practitioner/fundamentals) - AWS preferred
- Ability to install, configure and debug web servers (Apache HTTPD, Nginx)
- Knowledge of Apache Tomcat - ability to perform basic tuning and troubleshooting of this tool
- Knowledge of monitoring tools, e.g. Grafana Icinga, Zabbix
- Proficiency and the ability to confidently implement security measures in a Linux system, such as SELinux rules
- Thorough understanding of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP, network packet capture
- Good system diagnostics skills
