Project Description

The EDP team is building an internal platform for Elia Group software product developers to accelerate the development and delivery of software products to tackle the massive challenges facing the energy sector. The EDP Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. EDP Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The EDP Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds. We are looking for talented, experienced, and motivated individuals in the following role to join the EDP team to take EDP to its next level.

Position Description

The infrastructure product line offers services that are provided via a software stack for other product lines within the program. These services are engineered and operated within this product line. The Network Security Engineer is a member of the Infrastructure sub-group and reports towards the Security Delivery Team lead. The Network Security Engineer is responsible to plan and deliver the infrastructure in line with the architectural and operational requirements as they are documented. The Network Security Engineer is intended to be script-based, to simplify implementation through increased efficiency as well as to standardize the work and reduce human errors. The Network Security Engineer requires to understand the automated procedures and how to use them. Using their knowledge, the Network Security Engineer will create the appropriate documentation and hand-over descriptions for operations to enable a structured and standardized maintenance. While the project is in a start-up mode, the Network Security Engineer feels comfortable taking on tasks outside the defined core competencies and is open to creating the necessary communication channels within the various organizations working on this program.

Successful Security delivery:

The Security Engineer has the knowledge to plan, implement and document the in-scope environment as defined. The Security Engineer follows the designed processes to achieve successful work and collaboration as well as detailed documentation.

Continuous Improvement and Adaptation:

The Security Engineer actively validates implementation processes in the responsibility and ensures to create and update the needed scripts and jobs. The Security Engineer actively informs his team lead and the engineers about detected deviations and required corrections as well as configuration adjustments. The Security Engineer further reports observations in case configuration do not deliver the required security standards.

Effective Collaboration and Communication:

The Security Engineer does have the capability to explain technical requirements properly. The Security Engineer has an open mindset to collaborate within technical alignments.

Self-Organization:

The Security Engineer has the capability to organize the work handed over according to prioritization and complexity. The Security Engineer tracks the status and reports actively. In case further information is required, the Security Engineer will actively investigate to find the relevant contact and start resolving the issue aligned with the engineers.

Profile Requirements

The individual must have at least 5 years security experience in enterprise and data center network environments in large-scale data center context. A PCSNE or CCIE or at least a CCNP Security & Datacenter certification is required. The individual should be able to clearly communicate with peers and engineers about the status of the environment. Problem analysis and resolution competencies which covering the dependencies to layers above and below the network topics.

Skill Requirements

Must-have competencies / Must-have skills:

  • Good experience with datacenter security, VLAN, VPN and remote access
  • Good experience with Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls, Panorama Management & Prisma Access (SASE)
  • Security delivery automation with Ansible, ability to align with software development team using Python
  • Usage of DevOps and system management tools
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and Miro or similar tools

Must-have language skills:

  • Fluent English in speech and writing (at least C1)

Preferred Competencies and skills:

  • Basic experience Cisco ACI and/or Juniper Apstra
  • VMware (minimum basic)
