Overview:

This is a unique opportunity to join Smurfit Westrock as a General Manager for the cardboard packaging plant in Tarnów and lead the plant management team as well as drive all operations, which include Production, Sales, Finance, Health & Safety and HR, with approx. 100 people.

Your mission will be to set direction and develop the business, drive profitable sales and offer the most valuable packaging solutions to our current and potential customers, while keeping focus on people and building a strong local team and culture of collaboration.

As the GM you will report to the CEO North East Europe in Smurfit Westrock, and become part of the regional Excom Team.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

• Manage the Tarnów plant, achieving short- and long-term objectives.
• Develop strategies to drive growth and maximize EBITDA.
• Develop and implement strategies for new business to increase the companys market share.
• Set targets for volume and sales, ensuring financial and non-financial goals are met.
• Full P&L responsibility.
• Innovate product and service offerings to meet customer needs.
• Lead the organization with vision, inspiring and motivating employees.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing leadership team and build a sustainable talent pipeline.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental policies.
• Optimize quality and cost through effective operational planning.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
• Align with HR policies and manage labor relations.
• Represent the company internally and externally towards business partners and authorities

What you need to be successful in this role:

• University Degree.
• Proven track record of successful performance in a similar position.
• Industrial management experience in multinational companies, preferably managing both sales and operations.
• Strong leadership skills and team management experience.
• Results-oriented and proactive approach to business solutions.
• Strong commercial acumen: sales background will be an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent analytical skills as well as knowledge of corporate finance and reporting.
• Languages: fluent Polish and Business English.
• Knowledge of packaging business will be highly valued.
