About Our Client

The fashion & sports equipment retailer has been experiencing strong growth. The companys aim is driving further regional expansion and dominance in Central and Eastern Europe.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Co-creating and implementing the purchasing strategy within the category (100,000 SKU).
  2. Establishing cooperation with new suppliers and maintaining relationships with current suppliers.
  3. Managing the product strategy - building an effective category management system ensuring expert product selection across categories.
  4. Negotiating purchasing conditions (targets, bonuses, transition periods, distribution markets, etc.) and conducting cyclical analyses of cooperation terms.
  5. Ongoing optimization of commercial conditions in relation to market situations to continuously ensure competitive purchasing conditions and the expected first-degree margin level.
  6. Collaborating with representatives from various sales channels, the marketing department, and the warehouse to ensure smooth product availability and quality across all channels.
  7. Building a strong purchasing team: providing direction, introducing best practices, setting and reviewing goal achievement, supporting and enhancing the teams skills, and creating career paths for the team.
  8. Implementing and optimizing purchasing tools to improve workflow and increase team efficiency.
  9. Ensuring optimal stock structure, availability, and proactively addressing potential overstock.
  10. Making strategic purchasing decisions based on budgets, analyses, and indicators.
  11. Regular market and business research to identify product, sales potential, and current trends.
  12. Collaborating between the Purchasing Department and the management team as well as other teams within the organization to provide appropriate support for the companys mission, vision, and strategy.
  13. Focusing on teamwork and effective communication.
  14. Actively participating and representing the company at industry trade events.
  15. Willingness to travel for business (trade shows, meetings with key suppliers).

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in category management, be data-driven, and possess excellent analytical skills. Key competencies should include merchandise planning, pricing strategy, forecasting, and a proven track record in generating cost savings.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar position.
  2. Experience in independently leading strategic commercial negotiations.
  3. Experience in managing a broad assortment at the category level.
  4. Experience in import purchasing (outside the EU).
  5. Experience in team management.
  6. Higher education (preferably in a relevant field).
  7. Proficiency in English at a minimum of B2 level, fully communicative.
  8. Very good knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel.
  9. Interest in the sportswear market.
  10. Knowledge of assortment and market trends (familiarity with the outdoor market is an advantage).
  11. Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  12. Very good knowledge of MS Excel (pivot table, big data, etc.).
  13. Knowledge of Magento, ERP NAVIERO or SUBIEKT GP (optional).
