Job Details

  • Position: Collection Specialist
  • Department: Finance – BG Controlling
  • Location: Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic or Poland (approx. 450 allocated accounts)
  • Contract: Permanent employee – Full‑time
  • Shift: Hybrid (office and remote)
  • Line Manager: BG Collection Coordinator

Job Purpose

Cash collection of customer debts on time, improving collection processes, reducing DSO, bad debt write‑offs and overdue levels.

Responsibilities

  • Daily follow‑up of late payments and overdue accounts.
  • Identify and address payment profile issues proactively to encourage timely payment.
  • Active contact with customers for outstanding amounts (minimum 15 contacts per day).
  • Collaborate with credit specialists, sales, customer service and finance teams.
  • Update and maintain the FSCM database, distribute statements and dunning letters as per collection strategy.
  • Conduct pre‑due calls to resolve administrative issues before the due date (e.g., incorrect invoice details).
  • Follow up on disputed invoices, collect root‑cause data and support resolution.
  • Report on key reasons for non‑payment, payment term discrepancies, top 20 customers per site and urgent actions for blocked accounts.
  • Provide early warning signals and accurate administrative follow‑up for customer accounts, claims and disputes, agreements and contact data.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications and experience in collection and customer‑facing activities.
  • Proficient in SAP and FSCM; strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages (priority): French, Polish, Dutch, German, Turkish.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and numerical understanding.
  • Results‑oriented with strong persuasion, negotiation and resilience.
  • Ability to work independently, in a structured manner and contribute to team success.
