Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to support the development of high precision automated assembly processes, transfer processes and products to manufacturing, and provide technical support for assembly processes in manufacturing.
- Development and transfer to manufacturing of automated assembly equipment to provide improved capacity, quality, yields and cost
- Hands‑on technical support of automated assembly equipment and processes at manufacturing locations
- Specification of new equipment and development of new processes, including co‑working with assembly equipment vendors
- Performing assessment of new equipment and processes
- Project management support for new processes and equipment introduction
Qualifications
- Educated in an engineering subject to degree level
- 5+ years’ experience of high precision assembly in automated assembly environments
- Familiarity with 6 Sigma, LE manufacturing methodologies, and Industry 4.0 technologies, including BI and SPC tools
- Proven experience in programming high precision electro‑mechanical control systems, including PLC controllers
- Experience in sequencing software and control systems
- Proven ability to develop new assembly processes and to transfer the processes to manufacturing
- Able to conceptualize assembly and automation methods and to understand interactions between components, processes and product performance
- Ability to read automatic, pneumatic and electrical diagrams
- Very good spoken and written English
- Able to deploy numerical, experimental and statistical problem‑solving abilities
